Black Hat sold shortcuts. The future of iGaming traffic is public

An iridescent river of light cutting through a dark tangled network

Yesterday at Black Hat, the old internet was still for sale.

There were people selling product mentions without naming the author. Backlinks without naming the page. Bot farms dressed up as distribution. Networks of expired domains sold as authority. Everything came with a dashboard. Almost nothing came with a person willing to put their name next to the result.

Then came the fashionable conclusion: SEO no longer works. Stop trying to build visibility. Pay only on CPA.

That conclusion confuses a broken supply chain with a dead channel.

SEO did not die. The black box did.

What Black Hat was really selling

The product was not a backlink or a mention. The product was distance.

The buyer was kept away from the author, the page, the account and often the real source of the traffic. An agency bought from a broker. The broker bought from a network. The network assigned the work to someone else. By the time a placement appeared in a report, nobody could answer the basic questions:

  • Who made it?
  • Where is it live?
  • Was the account real?
  • Was the relationship disclosed?
  • Did a person choose to read it?
  • Will it still exist next month?

That distance is useful when the inventory would not survive inspection.

Google now defines buying expired domains to manipulate rankings as expired domain abuse. Its examples explicitly include casino content placed on a domain that used to belong to a school. The same policy defines links created primarily to manipulate rankings as link spam.

This is not evidence that search is finished. It is evidence that the market for manufactured evidence is running out of places to hide.

CPA does not solve a trust problem

CPA is a payment model. It is not a quality standard.

Paying only for an acquisition can protect a budget from empty impressions. It does not tell you how the acquisition happened. A CPA deal can still contain misleading creative, an undisclosed endorsement, duplicate accounts, bonus abuse, brand bidding or traffic that disappears the moment the campaign stops.

It can also push every incentive toward the final event while nobody builds the public information that helps a customer choose the product in the first place.

For iGaming, that distinction matters. The cheapest registration is not automatically the best customer. The business still has to reconcile deposits, fraud, chargebacks, retention, market eligibility and responsible-gambling signals. A three-letter commercial model cannot perform that audit.

Use CPA where it makes sense. Just do not mistake the invoice for the strategy.

Replace the broker chain with a visible task

AntiMedia starts from a different object: a task that can be inspected.

A brand states the product, platform, market, language, deliverable, disclosure rule, quality requirements and reward. Real authors choose work from the task feed, publish through their own accounts and submit the result for moderation. The work is tied to a specific brief and a specific public URL, not hidden inside a bundle of “500 signals.”

That changes the market in four important ways.

The author sees the real brief. There is no chain of resellers stripping context from the instruction at every handoff.

The brand can verify the output. A live post can be read. Its disclosure can be checked. The account and community can be evaluated. A screenshot of an SEO tool is no longer the product.

The reward belongs to the person doing the work. Authors take tasks directly and AntiMedia charges them no platform fee. The advertiser funds the campaign; the participant does not pay to enter a referral pyramid.

The rules are explicit before publication. Honest opinion remains honest. Paid relationships are disclosed. In the US, the FTC says a material connection should be obvious and the disclosure should appear with the endorsement itself, not somewhere a reader is unlikely to see it. That is the standard described in its guidance for social media endorsements.

Transparency does not mean every post will be positive. It means the buyer knows what was commissioned, the author knows what is allowed, and the audience can understand the relationship.

AI search makes public evidence more valuable

AI search does not make SEO irrelevant. It raises the cost of having nothing real to retrieve.

Google's current guide says its generative search features are rooted in the same core Search ranking and quality systems. It recommends original, useful, non-commodity content and explicitly warns that seeking inauthentic mentions is not a shortcut. In Google's words, the foundation for AI visibility is still good search practice, not a new bag of GEO tricks.

The commercial signal is also becoming difficult to ignore. Similarweb estimated that AI platforms generated more than 1.1 billion referral visits in June 2025, up 357% year over year. In its ecommerce benchmark, AI-referred visits converted at 11.4%, compared with 9.3% for paid search and 5.3% for organic search. Its follow-up analysis describes these visitors as people who often complete research before they click.

Adobe found the same direction in a different dataset. During the 2025 holiday season, AI-referred retail visits converted 31% more often than other sources and were 33% less likely to leave immediately, according to Adobe Analytics. Google also says clicks from results with AI Overviews tend to be higher quality, with visitors more likely to spend time on the destination site.

None of those studies is an iGaming benchmark. Public, independent industry-wide conversion data for AI-referred casino and betting traffic is not yet good enough to declare a universal winner. Anyone presenting a neat global iGaming percentage should show the sample, attribution rules, GEOs and definition of conversion.

But the mechanism is especially relevant to iGaming. A person asking an AI system to compare products, explain licences, check availability or evaluate an offer is not scrolling past a random impression. They are expressing a detailed question. By the time they follow a cited source, much of the discovery work has already happened.

That is why AI search can produce exceptionally valuable traffic even while its volume remains smaller than Google. Intent is concentrated. The click is earned after an answer, not before it.

Public work compounds; rented traffic resets

A CPA placement can stop the minute the budget stops. A real public contribution can keep doing several jobs:

  • answer the original community question;
  • appear in conventional search;
  • become a source that an AI system can retrieve;
  • create branded search and direct visits;
  • provide language the brand can learn from;
  • establish a verifiable history instead of a temporary spike.

Not every mention will rank. Not every post will be cited by an AI answer. Nobody outside a search engine can honestly guarantee either event for every placement.

The advantage is that the work leaves evidence. A real author, a real page, a clear disclosure and a useful contribution can be audited today and discovered again tomorrow. A PBN invoice cannot.

The new question for iGaming marketers

Stop asking whether the seller can deliver a thousand mentions.

Ask whether you may inspect the task, the rule, the author, the placement and the outcome. Ask whether the content would still deserve to exist if Google vanished for a day. Ask whether a regulator, platform moderator, customer and AI system can all understand who is speaking and why.

If the answer requires an intermediary to translate a private spreadsheet, the campaign is already too opaque.

The next era of iGaming discovery will not belong to whoever owns the largest cemetery of domains. It will belong to products that can produce the clearest public evidence: real questions answered, real experiences described, real relationships disclosed and real work attached to a visible task.

Black Hat can keep selling shortcuts.

We are building the road.
